And when I force the total amount back down, it changes the weight again to show 4 decimal places. I don't want to see 4 decimal places on our invoice.
QB desktop Any suggestions? Thank you for your response. Let me help share some information about decimal places in QuickBooks. At this time, QuickBooks Desktop can only show two decimal places. We can't change the decimal places in an invoice because the field only accepts two decimal places.
Please see attached screenshot. I've seen similar requests from other customers about the ability to change decimal places in QuickBooks. I'd suggest you also send a feature request about this. The more requests we receive about a specific feature, the more likely it gets implemented.
This is an estimate that shows way more than 2 decimal places in the cost field. How do I prevent this from happening? It also shows the same on the invoice.
It is automatically placing multiple decimal places after the. Please tell me how to get this to round up. Thanks for joining in the discussion. I'm here to help figure out why you're having multiple decimal places on your estimate. The cost automatically calculates based on the quantity and total amount you entered in your estimate.
This will include multiple decimal places to view the total cost divided from the total amount. For now, the option to get this to round up is not available in QuickBooks Desktop. Please don't hesitate to also ask again in the Community if you have additional questions about decimal places on your transaction forms.
I'm just around the corner if you need my help. So there is still no fix. I have things out to the 5th or 6th decimal place on quotes. It is very annoying I have to go back and look at a quote prior to giving it out.
The Total amount is always to the 2nd decimal place but the cost is where it gets stupid. So no fix for this then? When it calculates the cost of an item for a quote it shows up sometimes up to 6 digits past the decimal place.
See the attached quote on how it shows 3 places. This looks horrible. I would like to round this number. Thanks for joining the thread, Josh ness. As mentioned above, the system only shows the exact calculation for cost. If you want to get rid of multiple digits after the decimal, you can manually round them off and enter by hand. You might want to use some form templates so you can modify the details.
QuickBooks contains the customization tools you need to make them so. You can control how they look and what information to include. Let me show you how:. You can refer to this guide on how to complete the process about customizing and using form templates.
In case you want to copy them from one company file to another, the link also includes importing and exporting instructions. I am having the same issue - it basically makes this function useless for sales people to change a mark-up on the fly. Did this happen to get fixed? In the item card, if you try to make these changes - it slightly adjusts the mark-up to make it a round number to. Thanks for joining us here, JohnCII.
I have some information about how to handle price rounding. If you're using the advanced pricing feature, you can choose the rounding of your decimal places from the settings. However, if you're not using the custom price rules feature. You can choose the minimum number of decimal places from the transaction template as mentioned by MadelynC.
Below is the screenshot of how it looks like. In case you need help with other customer's tasks, click this link to go to our general topic with articles. Let me know if you still have questions or concerns. I'm always here to help. Take care and have a wonderful day ahead.
The minimum of decimal places does not reduce the number when it is over 2, just makes sure there are at least 2. It does not round to 2 digits. If it did just show 2 digits there would still be problems - in the example I am working it shows cases x This would cause a lot of confusion about where the 0. Turning on advanced pricing has no effect at all on changing the mark-up in estimates functionality and is for price rules. Currently in estimates the sales price per item is not seen in the estimate screen, only the total price sales price x qty.
The only way to see it is do a print preview. If you have any other solutions - I would love to hear them - I have spend many, many hours on this issue over the years to no avail. You can edit your estimate template so you can select the Cost and Markup to show both on the screen when you create an estimate and when you print it.
Here's how:. The markup amount and percentage will only show when you have a billable expense attached to the estimate. For more details, you can click this link: Tracking job costs in QuickBooks Desktop.
I have an idea to make sure you can enable the margin field on your estimates. To achieve this, you'll have to customize them. I've got the needed steps to ensure your success. Once done, you can now enter the desired amount on the Margin column. Please note that QuickBooks won't auto-calculate the said amounts. Thus, you'll need to set the percentage or value you want on them. Also, you can pull up the Transaction List by Customer report and then customize it to keep track of all your estimates.
To do that, go to the Reports menu, and select the said report from the Customers and Receivables section. Lastly, I encourage you to check out our Firm of the future site to get you in the loop about the latest news and product enhancements. I'm always around to help if you have additional questions about managing your estimates in QuickBooks.
Have a good one. I've switched from online to desktop entirely only to find different nagging issues that the QuickBooks team refuses to solve. How hard can it be? I don't know about you, but I learned about rounding numbers when I was 5. I really should not have expected more I have the exact same issue that you are experiencing. The inability of the software to round to 2 decimal places for unit prices for marked up items makes this software useless for marking up items.
I cannot send quotes to customers with more than 2 decimal places for line items. It looks unprofessional and my customers refuse accept unit pricing in this format. I sat on a support call with Quickbooks for 4. I was told that if I upgraded to the Enterprise version, I would have the option to round off to 2 decimal places.
After taking the suggestion and upgrading, paying 3 times more for the Enterprise version, the rep had me change some configurations as shown in the previous thread. To no avail, I still have up to 5 decimal places for unit prices.
Quickbooks, please resolve this issue and train your support reps better! I have wasted a lot of time on this issue and should not have been misled to upgrade to a version that did not resolve my issue. QB Enterprise automatically rounds this up to 1.
Can the settings be changed to six digits after the decimal.? Thank you. Let me share some information about how QuickBooks Desktop handles transactions in foreign currency.
